We all know the importance of having the right chair, right desk and great coffee in the office. These things impact the employee and their productivity. In this blog, we will be looking at the power of plants and how they affect the mind of the employee. Furthermore, we will look at the benefits of having plants in the office.

1. Plants complete the beautiful aesthetic of your office furniture.

As a business owner, you spend a lot of time making sure your office furniture matches your company colour palette. Furthermore, you spend hours making sure the flow of the office is excellent. When it comes to décor, plants have a way of uplifting the space and bring some outdoors, indoors. It can be tough working at a desk and being indoors for hours. Therefore having a piece of outdoors inside the office can bring a sense of calm and beauty to the space.

The University of Technology in Sydney did a study in 2018 and found a significant decline in the stress levels amongst their staff when plants were brought into the workspace. The results showed a 37% fall in the tension and anxiety levels; a 58% decrease in depression; 44% fall in anger and hostility and lastly a 38% reduction in fatigue.

3. Plants can have a positive effect on productivity

By adding a plant per square metre of the office, you will be able to see an improvement in the memory retention and productivity of the employee. It is more useful to have a lean office workspace as this gives the room more purpose. It is good to have just enough chairs and desks that are needed in the area along with plants. That way you can get around without wasting time.

4. Plants clear the air in the office

Having plants in a room is an excellent way to remove carbon dioxide from the room and promote the creation of clean oxygen. We know that oxygen has terrific effects on brain function which is ideal for an affect workspace. If you breathe better, you tend to work better.

5. Plants boost creativity in the office

Plants are a good way of adding a natural element to the workspace. It not only clears the mind of clutter but plants have a way of boosting creativity. Having something green and beautiful to look when you have a creative block, has a calming effect which leads to clear thoughts. It has been proven that when you are relaxed, you can concentrate better.

The work environment plays such a vital part of the day to day running of a business. With the right combination of office furniture and plants, you will be able to create a good space for all your workers. Happy workers make for productive workers.
